MAPI Professional Code of Ethics:
MAPI members are expected to adhere to a strict code of professional ethics. MAPI members will:
- Perform the duties of a licensed private investigator and/or protective agent to the highest level of excellence.
- Conduct investigations within the legislative guidelines set forth in the laws and rules of the State of Minnesota.
- Ensure each client clearly understands the services that will be provided and the fees that will be charged. A full and accurate accounting of fees and expenses will be provided upon the client's request and in a timely manner.
- Avoid other assignments where conflicts of interest may arise.
- Conduct business in an honest, fair and ethical manner, without allowing personal bias or prejudice to interfere with investigative or protective agent work.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of each client and any information that may come into the investigator's possession.
- Never advertise or represent services to a client in a misleading or deceptive manner.
- Engage in continuing education and professional growth opportunities whenever possible.
- Offer assistance to colleagues new to the profession and to other MAPI members.
