Paul Johnson Investigations specializes in:
As a DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Instructor, my training and continuing SFST education far exceeds that of most arresting officers. This course is through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) therefore my expertise can be used nationwide.
I will endeavor to expose any discrepancies the officer used in determining the Probable Cause influencing the decision to arrest. Just like every human being, officers do pick up bad habits and take short cuts. The SFST Test is accurate only if done accurately. Whether working for the client or the defense attorney, my primary role is to review all documents and video, make recommendations on what the best course of action to take, and testify in court.
A client can plead guilty to the charges but often a skilled DUI lawyer with a competent investigator will ensure all evidence is presented to the prosecutor. My experience with attorneys has resulted in charges dropped entirely or lessened early in the process. These negotiations occur during the pre-trial conference. I will first start with the client filling in a questionnaire with over 100 questions giving background about everything surrounding this incident.
I can work with the client directly or through your attorney analyzing your arrest and submit your case analysis along with questions that need to be asked on your behalf.
As a retired Sheriff Investigator and Chief of Police, I understand the primary objective of the officer is to build a case the prosecutor will take to trial. Gathering just the right amount of evidence for a conviction is not justice. As your investigator, my role is to ensure that the jury is presented all the available evidence, not just what is needed to obtain convictions.
Being on your team I continue analyzing the report, analyzing witness statements and re-interview, verifying the statements reported are actually accurate. Re-interviewing witnesses often uncovers additional witnesses the police spoke to, but didn't give the narrative necessary for their theory, so it was omitted from the statements presented to the prosecutor.
I have verified advanced training in interview techniques, forensic Interviewing of Sexual assault victims, advanced training in arson investigations.
My experience includes contract work with many attorneys whose primary purpose is defending the innocent, contract work the State Public Defenders Office, investigations for Post-Conviction Appeal Investigations, and DUI Investigations as a SFST Investigator.
Being a licensed Private Investigator in Minnesota and Wisconsin, I have been involved in many cases where charges have been completely being dismissed before trial, as well as numerous not guilty by jury verdicts.
The ability to interview is an art, essential when preparing criminal and civil cases. Locating and follow up with witnesses is necessary to ensure justice prevails.
Civil Litigation - My experienced ranges from probate challenges, to locating, interviewing, and obtaining signed Affidavits in personal injury cases and property disputes.
DUI Cases - I have maintained my training by the NHTSA / SFST. I will prepare analysis as well as testimony which has resulted in verifiable not guilty verdicts.
I do my work and will not hire employees.
I am able to do process service throughout northwest Wisconsin as well as the Twin Cities and Duluth area. You will be surprised how reasonable my rates are.
